Official Bio
Hailing from New Jersey, The Modbeats are the newest eclectic four-piece set about taking over the rock n’ roll world. The high voltage quartet, made up of Philip Dunn (vocals, guitar), Scott Matison (bass), Fizz (drums), and Joe Mandia (guitar), has carved a niche in the modern rock scene by incorporating ‘60s jangle-pop, ‘50s rockabilly, and gritty blues influences into their tone alongside other catalog twists.
Their recent debut record, Ballad of a Starving Artist, quickly established the group as a driving force in the industry for its infectious earworms and classic lyricism. The album earned substantial praise from publications like The Big Takeover, Shindig!, WXPN, and Earmilk, solidifying the group’s ability to bridge past influences with present-day instrumentation and a twist of light and dark.
The Modbeats embody an underappreciated culture bound to sonic exploration and undefined by decade, nationality, or status. Their commitment to pure sound, uninhibited by subgenre, combined with a distinctive aesthetic and stupefying live performances, earned them a spot on Music Connection’s Hot 100 Live Unsigned Artists and Bands of 2024. They’ve carved their sound across countless corners of the rock landscape, with more explosive performances and genre-bending releases on the horizon.
